about

portaitAndy Goralczyk studies at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. Mainly working in the realm of data visualisation, traditional and computer animation he aspires to merge analogue media and digital content in new and compelling ways.

Andy also works as freelance CG illustrator and designer. Drawing from a range of styles most commonly rooted in contemporary graphic novels and comics, his work is often contrasting between dark and lighter subjects.

Since having discovered Blender for himself in 2000, he uses it as his primary 3D application, video editing suite and compositing tool along with many other open source software packages. Using Blender he created several award winning short movies and still images.

In 2005 he became art director of Elephants Dream: An international team of five artists was formed in Amsterdam, Netherlands to create the world’s first open movie production. Andy returned in 2007 for the second open content project: Big Buck Bunny, again in the role of the art director. Since the concept of this movie was largely different from his usual work, it proved to be a welcomed challenge. In this funnier and more light-hearted short film, he was responsible for character modeling, texturing and fur, as well as lighting and compositing the final picture.
